Temazcal & the Ancient Mesoamerican Sweat Lodge Healing Experience

The Temazcal is an ancient Mesoamerican version of the sweat lodge that has been considered the “original hospital” since early times in Mexico. This workshop will span 2 days as we come together to learn about the ancient practices and construct our temporary Temazcal. The second day we will take part in the Temazcal sweat lodge ceremony. It is important to note that Temazcal ceremonies are less intense and less hot than Native North American sweat lodges. This Ceremony will offer Herbal teas as well as herb infused tea over the hot stones within the sweat lodge, and serves to create a womb environment for deep healing and emotional rebalancing. This event is hosted by Jena Skai and her Curanderismo teacher, Robert Vetter, a cultural anthropologist whose life work focused on studying, living and practicing spirituality and healing in diverse indigenous cultures, including Native Northern American medicine of the Southern Plains and Curanderismo in Mexico.
